The Admin section of Athenaeum has been re-organised somewhat.
The Registration tab is simplified, with just your logo, registration detail, admin name and title.
The Window management tab offers controls for the placement and sizing of windows for the three different levels of users who connect using the desktop application (i.e. FileMaker Pro).
Each user level has the following controls:
| Control | Value |
|---|---|
| preferred layout sizing | a value of either “larger” or “smaller” where smaller is optimised for 1024x768 screens |
| window maximises | “yes” or “no” determining whether Athenaeum should attempt to keep windows maximised when possible |
| default window zoom | the percentage zoom scale for each window |
Using combinations of the above, Athenaeum will attempt to size all windows according to your preferences.
When Athenaeum leaves this screen (such as by clicking the Menu button), Athenaeum will apply your settings to the windows of the various modules of Athenaeum.
You can also trigger the resizing by clicking the “Window” button at the top of the main menu.
If you would like your Athenaeum windows offset from the top and left of the screen: - go to the main menu - position the window where you would like it (it must be within the “application space”) - click the Window button
The other Athenaeum windows will position themselves at the same top and left position resize to the preferences.
Athenaeum generally will not adjust your windows again after this. When you move the windows, they mostly stay moved.
This tab is configured into two parts.
The left side shows the function assigned to each button, roughly in the position on the main menu.
The right side has a scrolling list of commands.
To set a button, simply find the command you want on the right and drag it to the desired button.
Set the colour of the text from the pop-up list below each button.
These switches have a new look.
A green switch with a tick (check mark) is “on” or “yes”.
A grey switch with a cross is “no” or “off”.
Some screens reduce clutter by embedding the labels inside the fields to make space. If you need a reminder of what a field is, usually you can hover over it to see the field name. Some such tooltips also show the contents of the field which is useful if the field is too small for the content.
It is easier and more obvious to set-up OPAC “desktop clients” (i.e. connecting to Athenaeum with FileMaker Pro) from one of the three main configurations.
When sending fees to the KAMAR student management system, a default Fee Account can be specified. This is useful where a site is using two copies of Athenaeum, say, one for library and one for resources, and fees for the two separate libraries need to be charged against different accounts.
You can trigger the Top Titles script manually without generating statistics shown on the Main Menu.
