The most obvious change to Athenaeum Pro are significant updates to the interface. Interface changes consist of
adjustments to the look and feel of the various modules
adjustments to window sizing options and customisations for three levels of users
Athenaeum is far less aggressive trying to manage your window positioning and adjustments.
The basic colouring of the Athenaeum modules has more or less been maintained. For example, the borrower modules are still greens, circulation: blues; administration and main menu: blue. The catalogue modules have moved from a deep red gradient colour to a bronze colour.
Most gradients have been replaced with flatter colours, providing a better experience of a wider range of hardware as well as matching many of the current design cues in computing today.
Buttons are now more interactive…hover over a button and it will highlight more obviously than before.
Where appropriate, there are more images (i.e. borrower photos and catalogue images).
List views have taller rows which are easier to read.
The labels on detail views are now inside the fields they represent and disappear when the fields contain data allowing more visual space to de-clutter the screens further.
A number of librarians have asked for Athenaeum to better fill their large screens.
Last year, we undertook a very short survey of Windows 7 users and were surprised by the very wide range of screen options.
Athenaeum is now configurable in the following ways: - the default zoom (e.g. 100%, 150%, 200%) - a preferred window “size” (smaller or larger) - whether to attempt to maximise the window to the available screen dimensions
Combinations of the above will accommodate most screen types today.
These options are independently configurable for administrator, issue or guest log-ins.
This is described in detail in the Admin section.
Some processes (such as using QuickMARC, adding new items or duplicating items) now present on a single screen indicating the steps that need to be completed for that process.
