The main menu - the front screen of Athenaeum for administrators - now shows some basic statistics down the left and a new set of larger, customisable buttons in the main area.
The statistics panel to the left of the main menu enumerates: - the current number of catalogue items - the number of items added in the current calendar year - the current number of issues - the current number of overdues
When you first start Athenaeum, the statistics panel is empty. Click anywhere in the panel to have Athenaeum calculate the statistics.
When the statistics are visible, click on any of the numbers to see the records related to those numbers. For example, click on the Current Overdues count (208 in the example) to see those overdues or click the number describing the Items added this year (91 in the example) to go to the catalogue list and show just the items added in the current year.
If you want to re-generate the statistics, simply hold the shift-key and click on the statistics panel.
There are many kinds of Athenaeum users around the world who use Athenaeum in different ways and use different components.
The customisable buttons feature allows you to organise the main navigation of Athenaeum to suit your library.
There are eight button positions. You can, in Admin, choose from a list of functions, different colours for your text if you choose. See Admin for more detail.
Athenaeum now checks the Athenaeum web sites for messages. Messages can be general text messages to all users, with optional URLs turning them into HyperLinks; individual messages for individual libraries; or they can be commands to run basic maintenance scripts that might set selected preferences (for example) if we think you need assistance.
If there are messages waiting to be viewed, the messages tab highlights in red and a counter is displayed on the front tab.
Clicking the messages tab reveals those messages in a scrollable list:
Hide the messages by clicking the check box to the left of the message.
If the message is also a link, it will be blue text with underline and clicking the message will attempt to have your computer open the link in the standard way (e.g. a web page URL might be opened with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer).
All messages can also be viewed in a new page in the “Audit” area of Athenaeum.
Some minor changes have been made to the QuickStats tab.
